چکیده
Abstract When liquid aluminum is exposed to air, an oxide layer instantaneously forms on the surface of melt, which, when enfolded, becomes a double film defect (bifilm), producing entrained air pockets forming voids, cracks, and areas stress. Studies reactions between trapped inside bifilms surrounding melt have produced reaction products such as AlN. In this study, examination fracture surfaces Al–7Si–0.3Mg (2L99) as-cast alloy revealed AlN apparently different “nodular” morphology approximately 15 μ m in length. contrast “feather-shaped” grown through holding nitrogen or addition Mo 2L99 observed previous research, nodular study was thought be less permeable. This confirmed hypothesis Nyahumwa et al . (AFS Trans 106:215–223, 1998), who suggested that entrapped can react with by initially consuming oxygen form oxides, spinel (MgAl 2 O 4 ), followed consumption The has been proposed reduce size correspondingly improve mechanical properties alloy. work, also alloys controlled gas environment at 850 °C various times reveal morphologies.

Biocompatibility of a titanium–aluminum nitride film coating on a dental alloy
The purpose of this investigation was to develop a coating technique and to study the characteristics of titanium–aluminum nitride [(Ti,Al)N] films deposited on a base-metal alloy (Wiron88R) substrate. Titanium–aluminum nitride thin films were deposited on the alloy surface using a reactive radiofrequency sputtering method. The electrochemical properties of three specimens with and without coat...
متن کاملBoron-nitride and aluminum-nitride "Pringles" and flapping motion.
Motivated by the recent successful synthesis of a new nanocarbon, namely, a warped, double-concave graphene "Pringle" (Nat. Chem., 2013, 5, 739), we investigate properties of warped boron-nitride (BN) and aluminum-nitride (AlN) analogues, i.e., the non-planar B40N40H30 and Al40N40H30 "Pringles" using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Particular attention is placed on the effect of n...
متن کاملPorosity Prediction in Aluminum A356 Alloy Castings
A comprehensive methodology that takes into account alloy solidification, shrinkage-driven interdendritic fluid flow, hydrogen precipitation, and porosity evolution has been developed for the prediction of microporosity fraction in aluminum A356 alloy castings. The mathematical models presented are implemented in a computational framework consistent with those of commercial casting codes, allow...
متن کاملAluminum Nitride Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasound Transducer Arrays
Air-coupled piezoelectric micromachined ultrasound transducer arrays, operating at ~190 kHz, have been fabricated utilizing an aluminum nitride piezoelectric layer. Improved fabrication processes have reduced the frequency variation seen in our previous work with single transducers resulting in arrays of transducers with resonant frequencies (fn) that match within the fractional half-power band...
متن کاملDesign of Piezoelectric Aluminum Nitride MEMS Resonator
The following work reports the design, numerical, analytical and simulation characterization of an Aluminum Nitride MEMS resonator. The paper offers a comparison of rectangular plate MEMS resonator (length extensional and width extensional mode shapes) and ring shape MEMS resonator. It also demonstrates the contour Eigen modes of resonators and their equivalent electric circuit model (BVD). Fur...
